While it seems that United Streaming has the lion's share of streaming digital media for the classroom (and is not free--an annual site license is approximately $1500 per K-8 school, and over $2000 for a high school building) there is another resource available.
Teachers' Domain is an online library of over 1000 free media resources from public education broadcasters. There is a K-12 edition, a New York K-12 edition, and an edition for higher learning. Teachers' Domain also provides resources for professional development for educators.
