I found an excellent resource for educators teaching a unit on Sudan. The United States Holocaust Memorial has teamed up with GoogleEarth in order to provide visual evidence of the destruction in Darfur.
After downloading the overlay file, you can see the location of damaged and destroyed villages, the location and number of displaced refugees in Darfur and Chad, as well as photos, videos, and testimonials.

That is absolutely devastating to really see these images. Many journalists are not being allowed into Southern Sudan as the government there is really afraid of the reaction that it may cause. I think because our media fails to carry this type of information, it is important for us to deliver this knowledge to as many people as we can.
Something needs to be done about this. Heck, I was reading the AJC the other day and the death of a Zoo animal from the Atlanta Zoo made the front page while human death and crisis from Africa made page 5.
